Buenas tardes from Lima!
I’m no stranger to Peruvian food. In my omnivorous past life, I tried it all.
And it’s out of this world.
The mingling of flavours, especially in ceviche, is unmatched. The pungent yet delicate red onion, zesty lime juice, kick from the ají pepper… top it all off with a strong pisco sour, and you’re ready to file for Peruvian citizenship.
HOWEVER, you can experience these magical Peruvian flavours, SIN (without) carne/pollo/pescado (beef, chicken, fish), while being KIND to the animals and
planet!
For example…
Ceviche de champiñones – mushroom ceviche! Upon my boyfriend’s family finding out I am vegan, Tia Malena pulled me into the kitchen and taught me how to whip up this dish (we
agreed we need to host a cooking show together, in spanglish).
Lomo saltado ‘con soy’ – stirfry of peppers, onions, tomatoes, and fries, alongside rice. Traditionally served with sirloin strips, you can find lomo saltado with tofu or seitan.
Thanks to my new discovery, Happy Cow (which I’m over-the-moon excited about!),
I dove into Lima’s vegan foodie scene.
Stay tuned! ♥
